Allergy Free Dining in LA

For many (including myself) finding an appropriate place to eat if you have a food allergy can be quite daunting. And for us allergy sufferers who cannot find an appropriate place, we spend our time annoying waiters and chefs by interrogating them on every last ingredient that goes into our respective meal.

Enter Manis. A safe haven for allergy suffers. Not only do they use fresh organic ingredients, they also cater to gluten, dairy, soy, and corn allergies- just to name a few. They also use natural sugars such as agave nectar and pure cane sugar to sweeten foods, instead of preservatives. And the best part of all- it tastes good!


I have eaten at Mani's a few times now, and while I have not yet tried their desserts, I was quite impressed with the sandwich and salad selection. I hope to venture one day up Fairfax in the morning for a delicious breakfast treat and a nice cup of tea (all corn syrup free!!)

Feeling French

After watching the film Paris Je t'aime for the second time, I became fascinated with the different boroughs within the city of Paris.  Paris metro stations were also highlighted throughout the film, which reminded me of how unique each one is, making the journey underground the city of lights almost as exciting as the city itself (ok not quite, but in all honesty, the metro stations are pretty interesting).

I love how the walls in the metro station are tiled.  Even though in most of the stations now they are covered with advertisements and sometimes graffiti, the tiles give the station a sense of history, unlike the hard cement walls you see today.  I also feel like each station tells a different story, which can make a metro ride all that more exciting.

Take the station for the Louvre: simple, yet asthetically pleasing.  Also one of the more modern ones that I've seen throughout the Paris underground.  It also leads to one of my most favorite places in Paris.
